These are the times published when the service launched on 30 September 2026. Fares move with the date and how full the train is: on launch day one midday Premium seat was listed at Dh129. Check the Etihad Rail app for your date before you travel, because a new service often adjusts its timetable in the first months.

Commuters should note the gap. There is no train from Dubai between 7:14am and 1:14pm, and the last one back from Abu Dhabi leaves at 5:43pm. If your Abu Dhabi workday ends after about 5pm, you will not make it to Mohamed Bin Zayed City station in time.

Train or car: which costs less for your trip?

The train fare is only part of the cost. Add what it takes to reach the station at each end.

By train, door to door–
By car, fuel only–

Car cost uses Special 95 at Dh4.28 a litre (October 2026) and counts fuel only. Salik, parking and wear on the car come on top. Station parking in Dubai is Dh30 a day if you drive to the train.

As a rule of thumb, one person travelling alone usually saves with the train, and a car with three or four people in it usually wins. The train’s real advantage is the hour you get back to work, read or sleep. For the full picture on daily travel see our commute options guide.

Neither station is in the city centre. Al Yalayis is in the south-west of Dubai, convenient for Dubai Marina, JLT, Al Barsha and Jebel Ali, and a long way from Deira or Mirdif. Mohamed Bin Zayed City is on the mainland side of Abu Dhabi, roughly 25 to 30 minutes by taxi from the Corniche and downtown. Add both ends before deciding the train is quicker. Our earlier report covers what the Dubai station connects to and which stations open next.
