Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police have introduced new truck movement restrictions from 1 October 2026. The aim is to ease traffic and improve road safety. Emirates Road is exempt. If you run deliveries, a logistics business or a small trading company, check your routes now.
Where and when trucks are banned
| Roads | Banned hours |
|---|---|
| Al Qudra Street, Al Meydan Street, all crossings, Airport Tunnel | 24 hours a day |
| Sheikh Zayed Road, Beirut Street | 6am to 10pm (16 hours) |
| Residential areas: Al Mizhar, Muhaisnah, Oud Al Muteena | 6am to 10pm |
| Airport Street, Oman Street, Damascus Street | 6:30–8:30am, 1–3pm and 5:30–8pm |
| Emirates Road | No restriction |
How to keep operating
- Re-plan routes to use Emirates Road and permitted roads.
- Apply for an RTA permit — the “Mobility Permit for Heavy Vehicles in Banned Times and Roads” — on the RTA website if you must use a restricted road for essential work.
- Use truck rest stops. RTA says 14 of 16 planned rest stops are complete, with 1,007 parking spaces, rest rooms, prayer rooms, restaurants and fuel.
- Tell your customers if delivery windows change.

What it means for car drivers
Fewer trucks on Sheikh Zayed Road during the day should help daytime traffic, but expect more heavy vehicles at night and on Emirates Road. Plan your commute with our daily commute options guide.
